OVER THIS PAST WINTER THE BAND WENT THROUGH SOME CHANGES, WE BROUGHT IN A NEW BASS PLAYER, TOOK SOME TIME OFF TO LEARN SOME NEW MUSIC AND CHANGED THE DIRECTION OF THE BAND. CHANGED DIRECTION YOU MAY ASK? THE BAND WILL BE SLOWLY THROUGH OUT 2025 MOVING TO 90'S ROCK LIKE SEETHER, STAIND, CHEVELLE AND GREEN DAY.
Colby and his father Pete created the band during the covid year (2020) by sitting in a room and learning song after song, before they knew it, they had almost enough music for fill 3 sets. the Maddie Pearl Band was created.
Colby Knappenberger is 21 years old, lead singer and lead guitarist, he is self-taught. Colby started playing in about 2017.
Rian Stevens is the other lead guitarist and back-up vocal He is 19 years old he also started about 2017.
Colby and Rian met about 8 years before the inception of the band. You could say they grew up together and learned to play guitar together.
Mark Salgado plays bass; Mark joined the MPB family in November of 2020. He was an awesome addition to the band.
In 2021 Colby, Rian and Mark decided to create MP, the electric band. They went searching for a drummer and found Dino Tyner and MP Electric was born.
Dino took over for Pete in 2023 as Pete stepped down from the band.
In 2025 Mark Salgado left the band and MP brought in Dom. As of March 1st, Dom is the new bass player of MP. Dom adds a different vibe and a different dynamic to the band.
The name was created by founding members Pete and Colby Knappenberger, it is to honor their Aunt Pearl and Aunt Madelyn. In the early days the primary colors were purple, pearl and black. The color Violet is to honor Pete's Grandmother Violet.
When MP (electric) was born they wanted a different image and adopted the color green.
Roger Knappenberger is the reason for the band, he is the father of Pete and the grandfather of Colby. Pearl and Madelyn were his sisters. Violet was their mother, Pete's grandmother and Colby's great grandmother.
Roger played in a Bluegrass/Country band in the 80's. Madlyn, Pearl and Violet never missed a gig, and I am sure if they were still with us, they wouldn't miss an MP gig either.
Roger, Colby's grandfather, bought him his first guitar and started to teach him the basics of the guitar.
In March of 2020 COVID-19 hit the country hard and people were in quarantine, Pete was laid off from his job, Colby was off from school.
Colby and Pete were bored, so Pete purchased a "drum box" online. Pete had been a drummer in the past but not anything serious. Colby had been playing and learning songs all the while and Pete had a lot of catching up to do.
Pete and Colby started jamming and just kept learning more and more songs as the month’s passed by. In about April/May Rian was added to our MP family.
Colby and his grandfather Roger had been jamming for years. Pete, Roger's son played bass and did sound for his dad's bluegrass band, Country Grass.
In June of 2020 the band got together and played their first gig at Robin Hill Campground.
In November of 2020 Mark joined the band and has been a great addition.
In August of 2021 Dino joined the electric band as the Drummer.
In February of 2025 Dom joined the band, Dom has many years of playing in a band is a great addition to the band.
